JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/29/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s soccer team hosted the No. 1 ranked soccer team in the NAIA, Bethel (Tenn.) University. Bethel extended a 1-0 halftime lead to knock off Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 3-0. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ dropped to 4-10 overall and 1-4 in the TranSouth. Bethel improved to 11-0-3 on the season and a TranSouth best 4-0-2.
Bethel scored the game-winning goal in the thirty-first minute of play when Mario Vila Boa found the back of the net. Just 12 seconds into the second half, Armanda Orozco scored again for Bethel, assisted by Vila Boa. Orozco added his second goal of the match in the eighty-fifth minute to seal the final at 3-0.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was outshot by Bethel 24-3 in the match, including 17-2 in the second half. Mike Phelan posted six saves in the 90 minutes of work in goal. Massimo Collu-Marchese recorded on save for Bethel.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a road game on Friday, October 31 at 2:30 p.m. at Central Baptist (Ark.) College in Conway, Ark.
