Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men’s soccer wins second straight with a 4-3 win over Christian Brothers

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/6/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s soccer team posted their second straight win with a 4-3 victory over Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University on Tuesday night. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 3-7 on the season, while Christian Brothers dropped to 4-6-1.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 3-0 in the first half, and held off a rally by the Bucs to claim the win.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored first with a goal from Dejan Kostic in the fifteenth minute. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ added two more times in the first half thanks to a pair of goals from Jake Carter in the thirty-forth and thirty-eighth minutes, respectively. Christian Brothers got on the board with a goal from Billy Otieno just seconds before the end of the first half.

In the second half, Christian Brothers pulled to within one goal on a shot by Zach Tubinis in the fifty-third minute to make the score 3-2. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Christian Brothers then swapped successful penalty kicks. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Guilherme Reis scored in the sixty-fourth minute, while Andrew Ballards of CBU added his PK in the seventieth minute to set the final at 4-3 in favor of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a TranSouth Conference game at Cumberland (Tenn.) University on Friday, October 9 at 4:00 p.m. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ currently sits at 1-1 in conference play.
