Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Lyon play to 1-1 tie in women’s soccer match

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/22/2009 - In a rain-soaked night of soccer at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University, the Lady Bulldogs of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Lyon (Ark.) College played to a 1-1 double overtime tie. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s record moved to 4-3-1 overall and 0-0-1 in the TranSouth. Lyon is now 5-0-1 on the season and 0-0-1 in league play.

All of the scoring occurred in the first half with Lyon striking first on a goal from Katie Marshall in the 28th minute of play. Then, with just six minutes to play in the half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Jamie Haynes made good on a penalty kick to tie the match. After a full second half and two overtime periods, the match ended at 1-1.

Lyon outshot Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 20-8 in the match. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Laura Play recorded eight saves in the match, while Erica Cox tallied three saves for the Lyon Pipers.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a non-conference home match on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2:00 p.m. versus Asbury (Ky.) College.
