Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women’s soccer tops Alabama-Huntsville 4-1

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/8/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s soccer team posted their second straight win in a 4-1 victory over University of Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 4-2, while UAH dropped to 2-2 on the season.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored first with a goal from Eboni Murphy in the 15th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Mollie Beanblossom put Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ up 2-0 with a goal. UAH responded quick as six minute later, a goal from Lauren Burns cut the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ lead down to 2-1. That 2-1 advantage for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ held as the halftime score.

In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was able to stretch their lead, as well as, keep UAH off the scoreboard. A goal from Steffi King just two minutes into the half, followed by a goal from Candice Blackard just six minutes later, put the game away for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. King also recorded one assist in the match for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

Mary Jane Garrott and Katie Moser split time in the goal with Moser recording three saves and playing 73 minutes for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out shot UAH, 20-13 in the match. UAH’s’ Lauren Kelly and Marissa Middleton combined for 10 saves in the match.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the second match in a stretch of seven straight home matches. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ host Georgetown (Ky.) College on Friday, September 11 at 8:00 p.m.
