Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women’s soccer splits trip to Georgia, wins on Saturday 3-2

WALASKA, Ga. - 9/5/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s soccer team moved to 3-2 on the season with a 3-2 win over Reinhardt (Ga.) College on Saturday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ lost on Friday in to Brenau (Ga.) University 3-1.

In Saturday’s win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Steffi King tied the match at 1-1 with her goal, assisted by Jill Landers, in the 31st minute. The scored remained 1-1 at the half. Just two minutes into the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Eboni Murphy gave the Lady Bulldogs the lead. Candace Blackard of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ put Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ up 3-1 with a goal, assisted by King, in the 57th minute. A late goal by Reinhardt in the 83rd minute set the final score at 3-2 in favor of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Katie Moser and Mary Jane Garrott split the match in goal. Moser recorded four first half saves, while Garrott had two saves in the final 45 minutes. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out shot Reinhardt 20-16 in the match.

In Friday’s loss to Brenau, Catilin Zimmerman recorded the goal while King recorded the assist.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the first of seven straight home matches on Tuesday, September 8 versus the University of Alabama-Huntsville at 2:00 p.m.
