Â鶹ÊÓƵ men’s soccer opens 2009 season with win

JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/29/2009 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ University men’s soccer team opened the 2009 season with a 3-0 shutout over Brewton-Parker (Ga.) College on Saturday afternoon. Brewton-Parker falls to 0-2 on the young season.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ wasted no time in taking the early lead with a goal from Chris Waugh, assisted by Dejan Kostic, in the seventh minute of play. The Bulldogs added a second goal in the first half when Kevin Bradley hit the back of the net in the 30th minute.

Just two minutes into the second half, Â鶹ÊÓƵ scored again, to put the lead at a comfortable margin at 3-0. Guilherme Reis’ goal was the final of the game at Â鶹ÊÓƵ completed the shutout.

J. Landham and Mike Phelan combined for the shutout, each recording one save in the match. Â鶹ÊÓƵ out shot Brewton-Parker 22-5.

Up next for Â鶹ÊÓƵ will be on Tuesday, September 1 when the Bulldogs travel to play at Milligan (Tenn.) College at 5:00 p.m.
