Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men’s soccer picked fourth in TranSouth preseason poll

BATESVILLE, Ark. - 8/26/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s soccer team has been selected by the TranSouth Conference coaches as the fourth best team in the league in the . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished third last season in the league standings.

Defending NAIA National Champion Bethel (Tenn.) University is an overwhelming favorite to repeat as TranSouth Conference champion and was listed as the first-place team on seven of the eight ballots in the poll.

Bethel, ranked No. 1 in the 2009 NAIA Preseason Top 25 rankings, won its second TranSouth Tournament title in three years in 2008 and finished tied for first in the 2008 regular-season standings with Martin Methodist. No other TranSouth team was ranked in the NAIA Preseason Top 25.

Martin Methodist was voted second in the TranSouth poll with 69 points and received the remaining first place vote, Mid-Continent placed third with 63 points, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was fourth (61), Cumberland finished fifth (42), Trevecca Nazarene was sixth (41), Lyon ranked seventh (38) and Freed-Hardeman was eighth with 24 points.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will open their season on Saturday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. versus Brewton-Parker (Ga.) College.
