Michelle Piper
JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/2/2009 - Michelle Piper, of Carthage, Tenn., has signed to play her college softball with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University. Piper will enter Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this fall as a freshman and will major in French and Spanish with a minor in communications.
Piper, a 5-foot-6 pitcher, prepped at Smith County High School where she was a three sport athlete. In addition to four seasons of softball, she also played basketball and soccer for one season each. Piper helped lead her softball team to a district runner-up finish in 2008. As a freshman, Piper basketball team also posted a district runner-up finish. During her softball career, Piper earned numerous honors, including All-District, Most Improved, and Horizon Award. She posted a career 2.59 ERA with 433 career strikeouts. As a senior, Piper hit .365 with a .454 on-base percentage.
Off the field, Piper was a four-time All-Academic award winner, a Girls State delegate and was the winner of the TECA Washington Youth Tour and scholarship. Piper graduated fourth in her senior class and was a member of the Beta Club, Interact Club, Science and Math Club, French Club, Spanish Club, Drama Club, and FBLA President.
Piper is the daughter of Phillip and Kathy Piper and is a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage.
