Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ takes final conference series over Trevecca Nazarene

JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/1/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs completed the regular season Friday with a 32-17 overall record and a 10-10 record in TranSouth play, after completing the 6-1 win of Thursday's rain-postponed game Friday. The Bulldogs then won the final game of the series 9-4. After the pair of losses, the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University finish the regular season 33-21, going 14-7 in league play and take the number two seed in the TranSouth Conference Tournament.

After the over-night rain delay, the Bulldogs and the Trojans picked the second game of their series back up on Friday, with the Bulldogs holding a 3-0 lead. Kevin Kirksey took the mound for the Bulldogs, and gave up only one run on two hits to preserve the win for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. The Bulldog bats put up three more runs in the game giving Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ 6-1 win.

The final game of the series began after the four Bulldog seniors, Joe Gahan, Danny Alberty, Carl Harken, and Allen Williams, were honored during Senior Day. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ offense was the story of game three of the series, as the Bulldogs were led by Gahan who went 3-for-4 on the afternoon, including a homerun, four RBI and two runs scored. David Maristany added a hit for the Bulldogs and two RBI, and Cole McAdams and Josh Jones each added a hit for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in the game.

After the Bulldog's pair of wins this weekend, they take the fifth seed in the conference standings, going into the TranSouth Conference Tournament, May 4-7, to be held at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Fesmire Field. The Bulldogs are set to play their first game of the tournament at 7 pm on May 4 versus Trevecca Nazarene. Visit the TranSouth Conference website for all the details at www.transouth.org.
