Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ softball places six on All-Conference list

PULASKI, Tenn. - 4/30/2009 - After a third place finish in the TranSouth Conference regular season standings, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University softball boasted six players on the 2009 TranSouth All-Conference list. Leading the way as first team selections were Lindsey Landreneau, Katie Davis, and Ali Thomas. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ players on the second team included Ashley Blankenship, Sydney McMillin, and Michelle Albonetti. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also had eight players named TranSouth Scholar Athletes.

, a junior from Leesburg, Ga., leads the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ team with a .384 batting average, 63 hits, 20 doubles, and three triples. She also has tallied 25 RBI and one homerun. Landreneau is tied for the team lead with 10 stolen bases.

, a freshman from Gibson County High School, was second on the team with a .381 average. She posted 53 hits, 12 doubles, and team-highs with eight homeruns and 39 RBI.

, a junior from Pegram, Tenn., was third on the team with a .368 batting average. She recorded 50 hits, 14 doubles, four homeruns, and 38 RBI. Thomas also threw out three base runners attempting to steal.

, a senior from Alabaster, Ala., hit .336 on the season on her way to a second All-Conference selection. She hit four doubles, four homeruns, and drove in 24 runs. Blankenship also completed a two-year career at first base where she committed just two errors in over 800 chances.

, a freshman from Brighton, Tenn., posted a 12-8 record on the season and had a 1.84 ERA with three saves. She tallied 25 appearances, 18 starts, and 11 complete games. McMillin struck out 61 hitters and walked just 39 in 118 innings pitched.

, a senior from Memphis, Tenn., is making her third All-Conference selection as a Lady Bulldog. She hit .322 with 49 hits, five doubles, three triples, a home run, and 11 RBI. Albonetti was tied for the team lead with 10 stolen bases and struck out just nine times in 152 at-bats on the season.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also had eight players to be named TranSouth Scholar Athletes including Albonetti, Blankenship, Brittany Burkett, Kristen Kirk, Landreneau, Brooke Laws, Thomas, and Candice Thompson.
