JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/17/2009 - Shea Piercey, a former Â鶹ÊÓƵ University women's basketball standout, was inducted into the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday night. Piercey played for Â鶹ÊÓƵ in the late 1980's, helping the team to their first every NAIA National Tournament in 1988.
Piercey still holds Â鶹ÊÓƵ records for three-point percentage in a season (.443) and assists in a game (14), both occurring during the 1987-88 season. She was named the Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Conference (TCAC) 1989 player of the year.
Piercey was a three-year starter at Jackson's North Side where she named a Blue Chip Top 50 player in Tennessee her senior year. She was also named first team All-state and honorable mention All-American the same season.
"I chose Â鶹ÊÓƵ because of Coach (David) Blackstock, and I wanted to stay close to home and have family watch me play," says Piercey.
