NAIA champion Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldogs to be honored at celebration on April 7

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/3/2009 - The 2009 NAIA Women's Basketball National Champion Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs will be honored at a ceremony on April 7 at 4:00 p.m. The ceremony will celebrate the school's fourth NAIA National Title and third championship in the past five seasons.

The celebration will be held in the Fred DeLay Gymnasium on the campus of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. It will include recognitions from community and university leaders for the outstanding season completed by the Lady Bulldogs.

On March 24, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ earned the national title by defeating Lambuth (Tenn.) University 73-63. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ completed the championship season 37-1, winning their last 24 games of the year. Over the past two seasons, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has posted a 72-2 record. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also captured their third straight TranSouth Conference regular season and tournament titles in 2009.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ head coach Mark Campbell was named the NAIA Coach of the Year and also earned the NAIA Coach of Character award. Josephine Owino was named the NAIA National Player of the Year and TranSouth Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season. She also earned National Tournament MVP honors.
