MAYFIELD, Ky. - 3/27/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs stopped their longest losing streak of the season at three games with a 9-4 win at Mid-Continent (Ky.) University on Friday afternoon. In a game delayed for two hours, 45 minutes by rain, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ posted the win to move their record to 17-9 on the season, and 4-5 in the TranSouth.
Mid-Continent scored first with a run in the bottom of the first. However, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored two runs in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth to pull away. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by David Maristany who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a homrun. Josh Jones was 3-for-5, while five other Bulldogs recorded one hit each, including a solo homerun from Alex Turner.
Senior Carl Harken (4-2) earned the win with a complete game, seven hit performance. He posted six strikeouts, while only one of the four runs scored on Harken was earned.
The two teams will play a double-header on Saturday, March 28 at 12:00 noon in Mayfield.
