Dudley Scores 23 Of Team-High 25 In First Half Of Win Over Lindsey Wilson (Ky.)
Kaitlin Dudley hit four first-half three-pointers and scored 23 of her team-high 25 points in the first half of No. 1-seeded Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.)’s 80-59 second-round victory over No. 5-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) Thursday evening at the 29th Annual Division I Women’s National Championship.
Shooting at a .655 (19-of-29) clip from the field in the opening half, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldogs built a 45-28 halftime lead after finishing the period with a 20-6 run. Dudley scored the first 13 points of the run with a trio of three-pointers followed by a pair of two-point buckets, then finished it off with a conventional three-point play at the end of the period.
Josephine Owino added 19 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double, and Zeinab Chan added nine points and eight rebounds off the bench for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, which out-rebounded Lindsey Wilson, 44-30. Kayla Hudson scored all nine of her points on three-pointers, and she dished out a game-high nine assists in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 50th all-time NAIA Tournament victory.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by at least 17 points the entire second half and took its largest lead of the game at 68-44 with 6:56 to play in the game following a 9-2 run in which Hudson knocked down back-to-back treys.
Lindsey Wilson was led by Sierra Rambert’s 26-point, eight-rebound performance, and Viktoria Krell was the Blue Raiders’ only other scorer in double figures, scoring 10 points before fouling out of the game.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (34-1) advances to its sixth straight national quarterfinals, where it will play No. 2-seeded Point Loma Nazarene at 6 p.m. Saturday evening. Lindsey Wilson finishes the season with a 25-9 overall record.
