Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Captures Fifth Straight NCCAA Region Crown

Jackson, Tenn. - 10/19/2002 - Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University won their fifth straight NCCAA MidEast Region Volleyball Championship with two wins on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Oakland City University 3-1 (30-22, 28-30, 30-22, 30-27) and Bryan College 3-0 (30-25, 30-21, 30-19) to capture the crown. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improves to 20-3 on the season and will advance to the NCCAA National Tournament on Friday and Saturday, November 1 and 2.

The Lady Bulldogs earned numerous NCCAA MidEast Region honors. Senior middle hitter from Swansea, Illinois, Andrea Darr was named the NCCAA MidEast Region Player of the Year and Coach Brian Dunn was named the region’s Coach of the Year. Earning all-region honors from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ were Andrea Darr, Lindsay Stalhberg, Crystal Abel, and Erin Bayne. Three Lady Bulldogs earned spots on the region all-tournament team with junior outside hitter from St. Louis, Missouri receiving the tournament MVP award. Crystal Abel and Andrea Darr join Stalhberg on the all-tournament team.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished runner-up in last year’s NCCAA National Tournament, however the Lady Bulldogs look to take it one step further and bring home their first crown.
