Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men erase 18-point deficit in win, hold first place in TranSouth

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/24/2009 - The No. 7 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs erased an 18-point deficit to defeat Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University 78-75 at home on Tuesday night. With the win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ held their one game lead in the TranSouth Conference standings with just two games to play. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is now 23-5 on the season and 12-2 in league play. The Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene are now 12-16 overall and 6-8 in conference play.

At the 14:18 mark of the second half Trevecca Nazarene led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ by 18 points, 60-42. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ slowly started to chip away, and with 9:34 left to play Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ had cut the Trojan lead to 10 points, 69-59. Over the next seven-plus minutes, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ exploded for a 17-0 run to give the Bulldogs their biggest lead of the contest, 76-69, with 2:05 to play. Trevecca Nazarene drained back-to-back three pointers to cut Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's lead to one, 76-75, with 1:20 left in the game. After both teams posted empty possessions, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Greg Truvillion made two free throws with sevens seconds left to put Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ up by three, 78-75. Trevecca Nazarene then missed a late three-point attempt and Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's comeback victory was complete, 78-75.

This come-from-behind win for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ came just three days after the Bulldogs had lost a 17-point lead at Freed-Hardeman in 75-73 loss.

This game started much differently than many of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's recent games, as the Bulldogs were down the entire first half. Trevecca Nazarene started the game on a 5-0 run and continued to build their lead, going up by as many as 10 points, 35-25 with just over two minutes left before the break. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ quickly answered with a Matt Neaville three pointer and a basket by Brian Lake to leave the Bulldogs down by only five points, 35-30. Trevecca's Brian Odour made a bucket of his own to give Trevecca a seven-point halftime advantage, 37-30.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led on the night by Greg Truvillion, who posted his ninth double-double of the year with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Matt Neaville added 19 points and a game-high six assists in the Bulldog's win. Antoine Joseph and Keith Tolliver each recorded 10 points for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

Trevecca was led by Brian Odour with 21 points. Jeremy Dixon recorded 14 points for the Trojans. Michael France posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Christopher Harris added 10 points.

Up next, the Bulldogs will travel to Blue Mountain, Miss., Thursday, Feb. 26, for a match up against Blue Mountain (Miss.) College. The game is set to tip off at 8 pm.
