Hendersonville standout signs with Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women’s soccer program

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/23/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University women’s soccer program has added another recruit to their 2009 roster with the latest signing of . Gilbert, a native of Hendersonville, Tenn., will enter Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ this fall as a freshman and will major in Athletic Training in hopes of becoming a Physical Therapist.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's head coach, Brandon Boylan says, "Kelsey is an attack-minded player who will come in and provide depth at the forward or midfield position." Boylan adds, "We are excited that Kelsey has chosen Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ to continue in her academic and athletic career. She is going to be a great addition to the university and our soccer program."

Gilbert, a 5-foot-3 forward, prepped at Davidson Academy where she was a three-sport athlete. In addition to four years of soccer, she played two seasons on the basketball team and ran track for a season. In soccer, Gilbert helped her team to the 2008 Region and Sub-State Titles, as well as, a region runner-up in 2007. She was helped her basketball team to a Division II Small School State Championship. Gilbert's soccer honors are numerous. She was named All-State, All-Region, Team MVP, Most Outstanding Player, and Team Caption as a senior.

As a junior, Gilbert earned a spot on the Tennessee Sports Writers All-State team, All-Region, Team MVP, and Team Captain. Gilbert set school records for most goals scored in a game (6), and was the school's all-time assists leader. Off the field, Gilbert was a member of FCA and Mu Alpha Theta.
