JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/16/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs moved up one spot in the latest NAIA National Rankings to settle in at No. 4. The Lady Bulldogs of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ are ranked No. 1 for the 22nd consecutive poll in the rankings that came out Monday. This marks the fifth time this season Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s men and women have been ranked in the top-5 of their respective polls in the same week.
The men moved to No. 4 after posting a perfect 2-0 week with a win at then No. 15 Cumberland (Tenn.) University 92-67. The Bulldogs also won in their first home game since Jan. 19 over Lambuth (Tenn.) University 90-84. The Bulldogs are now 21-4 overall and sit atop the TranSouth Conference with a 10-1 record in league play. In their next game the Bulldogs will play host to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Thursday, Feb. 19. The game is set to tip off at 8 pm.
On the women’s side, the Lady Bulldogs, now 24-1 on the season and 11-0 in conference play, also posted a 2-0 week. The women recorded a 96-45 win over Cumberland (Tenn.) University. In the win, junior guard Kaitlin Dudley passed the 1,500 point mark for her career at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. The Lady Bulldogs also posted a win over then No. 3 Lambuth (Tenn.) University 86-67. Next up for the Lady Bulldogs will be a home match up versus Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Thursday, Feb. 19. The game will tip off at 6 pm at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
