JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/12/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University baseball team is off to a 3-0 start following Thursday's 15-5 win over Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored in each of the first five innings, before posting three in the bottom of the eight to earn the win.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Danny Alberty (1-0) earned the win after pitching five innings of relief, allowing just one run on two hits with four strikeouts. Cody Dew tossed a scoreless final two innings of relief after Greg Harrington only lasted one inning in the start.
David Maristany again led the Bulldogs with a 3-for-4 day, including three RBI and a homerun. Huntingdon native Cole McAdams was also 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Grant Luke added two hits on the day. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ pounded out 12 hits in the contest.
Christian Brothers made it interesting early by scoring five runs over the first three innings, leading 5-4 going into the bottom of the third.
Ben Chism took the loss, allowing four runs in three innings of relief work.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a three game set the weekend, February 13-14, at Fesmire Field. McKendree (Ill.) University travels to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ for a 3:00 pm game on Friday and a 1:00 noon double-header on Saturday.
