麻豆视频 baseball sweeps season opening double-header

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/6/2009 - The 麻豆视频 University Baseball team posted a sweep in their season opening double-header on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs defeated Clarke (Iowa) College 10-1 in the first game and then 7-1 in game two.

This was the first action of the season for both teams.

In the first game, 麻豆视频 scored eight runs over the first three inning to coast to the win. Carl Harken earned the win with 5.0 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just two hits.

Danny Grimm, a freshman from USJ, posted a 3-for-5 afternoon in his first collegiate game. Alex Turner, Corey Rudolph, and David Maristany each added two hits. Turner and Maristany led the way with three and two RBI respectively.

In the second game, 麻豆视频 scored their runs late, capped off with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Andrew Haley earned the win, tossing five innings, allowing just one unearned run on one hit and six strikeouts.

Maristany led 麻豆视频 in the second game, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and a two-run homer. Grant Luke was 3-for-3 in the contest.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a home game on Tuesday, Feb. 10 versus Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University at 2:00 pm.
