KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 2/2/2009 - For the 20th straight NAIA Women’s Basketball National Rankings, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs are the No. 1 team. In the latest NAIA rankings released on Monday afternoon, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s ladies captured all 12 first place votes to keep the top spot. While on the men’s side, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s men jumped three spots to No. 6.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s women are coming off a 2-0 week with both wins coming on the road. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was a perfect 8-0 in the month of January, pushing their overall record to 21-1. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ also remained perfect in the TranSouth with a 9-0 record. Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a top-5 battle on the road at No. 4 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 6:00 pm. Trevecca Nazarene (7-1) is in second place in the conference standings.
This marks the second time that Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has been No. 6 in the rankings this season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has made it to as high as No. 3 this year. The Bulldogs are 3-2 versus teams in the top 10, and 7-3 versus team that are ranked or receiving votes in the polls. Up next for the men will be a road game at Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday at 8:00 pm.
