McKENZIE, Tenn. - 1/29/2009 - The No. 9 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs exploded for 58 second half points in route to a 97-68 win at Bethel (Tenn.) College. With the win, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 17-4 on the season and 7-1 in league play. Bethel dropped to 12-10 overall and 1-8 in the TranSouth Conference.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored first on a basket by Greg Truvillion. However, a Bethel 9-0 run put the home Wildcats up 9-2 with 16:29 left in the first half. But Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ answered with a 14-2 run of their own to take a 16-11 lead at the 12:19 mark. After the lead changed hands a couple of times over the next few minutes, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ took the lead for good, 24-23, on a three pointer from Keith Tollivar with 5:52 left in the half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ closed out the half with a 15-9 run to take the 39-32 halftime lead.
The second half was all Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ as they outscored Bethel 58-36. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ took their biggest lead of the game, 90-55, with 3:45 left in the contest. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ then coasted to the 97-68 final.
Over the last three games for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, the Bulldogs have averaged 104.7 points, while allowing just 68.3 points per game.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Greg Truvillion with game-highs of 29 points and nine rebounds. Truvillion has averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds per game over his last three games. Matt Neaville scored 17 points, including 15 second half points on five made three pointers. Antoine Joseph added 11 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 59-percent from the field, including 58-percent (11-19) from behind the arc, and 67-percent (16-24) from the free throw line.
Bethel was led by Dontaye Hinton with 15 points. Antoine Lesenese and Daniel Doyle each added 12 points, while Eddie King added 10 points. The Wildcats shot 40-percent from the field, 44-percent (7-16) from three point range, and 54-percent (7-13) from the free throw line.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a third straight road game at Lyon (Ark.) College on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 4:00 pm.
