No. 1 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Ladies post win at No. 23 Martin Methodist

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/15/2009 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs moved to 4-0 in the TranSouth Conference with an 85-46 at Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College. No. 1 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ goes to 16-1 on the season, while No. 23 Martin Methodist dropped to 13-3 overall and 3-3 in the TranSouth.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led 34-23 at the half after a slow start, but posted 51 second half points to run away with the conference win.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Josphine Owino with 28 points. Kaitlin Dudley added 15 points, 13 coming in the second half. Lavanda Ross and Zeinab Chan added 10 points each. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 49-percent from the field, 25-percent (3-12) from three point range, and 73-percent (24-33) from the free throw line.

The three made three pointers was the lowest total for a game this season for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 25-percent shooting from behind the arc was the second lowest, only to the 20-percent (4-20) shooting in the loss at Lee (Tenn.) University.

Martin Methodist was led by T'Qwana Pendergrast with 11 points. Martin Methodist shot 30-percent from the field, 16-percent (4-25) from behind the arc, and 43-percent (6-14) from the free throw line.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ outrebounded Martin Methodist 41-28, including 15-14 on the offensive glass.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be an NAIA Top-10 match-up with No. 6 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University. The game will be Saturday, Jan. 17 at 2:00 pm at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
