JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/8/2009 - The top ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs made quick work of the visiting Lady Bulldogs from Cumberland (Tenn.) University in a 101-34 win. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored 24 of the game's first 27 points to seal the game early.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (15-1, 3-0) trailed 3-2 after a three pointer from Cumberland (5-10, 1-2). However, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ posted a 22-0 run to take a 24-3 lead with 10:44 left in the half. Later in the half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ posted another big run of 18 straight points as they cruised to a 49-9 halftime lead.
In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ continued to stretch the lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ led by as many as 71 points, 92-21, with 6:18 left in the game before closing the deal at 101-34.
Nine Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ players scored in the game, including six in double figures. Kaitlin Dudley led all scorers with 21 points, including 3-of-5 from behind the arc. Kayla Hudson added 15 points, all coming from her five three pointers. Zeinab Chan scored 14 points, Merideth Jacobs scored 13 points, Lavanda Ross added 12 points, and Ashley Lillard recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Cumberland was led by Tamara Gonzalez with eight points.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a conference game on Thursday, Jan. 15 at Martin Methodist (Pulaski, Tenn.) College.
