JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/13/2008 - The No. 1 ranked Â鶹ÊÓƵ University Lady Bulldogs fell at No. 10 Lee (Tenn.) University 88-72. Â鶹ÊÓƵ is now 13-1 on the season, while Lee moves to 8-3 for the year. With the loss, Â鶹ÊÓƵ snaps a 43-game regular season win streak, as well as a 20-game road win streak.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ scored first to open the game, but the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Flames of Lee swapped baskets over the next several possessions before knotting the score up at 7-7, just over three minutes into the game. Lee then built a six-point advantage, before Â鶹ÊÓƵ pulled the score back even, 17-17, with just under 12 minutes left in the half.

Lee continued to play strong, stretching their lead to 13 points on several occasions. The Lady Bulldogs found themselves in a hole early, as they turned the ball over 17 times in the first half. That allowed Lee to take 17 more shots than Â鶹ÊÓƵ in the half, and for the first time this season, Â鶹ÊÓƵ found themselves trailing at the half, 45-34.

The second half began just as the first did, with a Lady Bulldog basket. Â鶹ÊÓƵ continued to battle, pulling themselves back into the game. The Lady Bulldogs chipped away at Lee's lead, pulling within two points, 65-63, with just over five minutes left in the game. Lee, however, quickly stretched their lead back out, finishing the game on a 23-9 run, to hand Â鶹ÊÓƵ their first regular-season loss since January 11, 2007, by a final score of 88-72.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ was led on the night by freshman Lavanda Ross with a career-high 19 points. Josephine Owino added 16 points for the Lady Bulldogs, and Kaitlin Dudley recorded 13 points.

Lee was led by Brooke McKinnon with 20 points. Valeriya Musina recorded 18 points for Lee. Katie Nelson and Angela Spann added 17 and 11 points, respectively, and Allison Rader posted 10 points for the Lady Flames.
