JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/13/2008 - The No. 3 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs knocked off the Knights of Southern University - New Orleans 93-73, in their second victory of the Freed-Hardeman Classic. With the win, the Bulldogs enter Christmas break with a 10-3 record. Southern University - New Orleans falls to 0-8 on the season.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ took an early lead in the game and never looked back. SUNO did not back down though, pulling within one point on two occasions late in the half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, however, closed the half on a 20-2 run to take a 19 point advantage, 49-30, into the break.
The Bulldogs picked up right where they left off to begin the second half. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ stretched their lead to 25 points, 57-32, just three minutes into the half. SUNO played a tough match, but the Bulldogs proved to be too much. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ won by a final score of 93-73.
A highlight moment came with just under nine minutes left in the contest, when Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Matt Neaville drained his fourth three pointer of the game, giving him 1,003 career points as a Bulldog.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by senior Brian Lake, who posted his second double-double in as many games with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Greg Truvillion added 16 points for the Bulldogs. Neaville and Keith Tolliver added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
SUNO was led by Lionel Green who recorded 36 points in the game.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's next match up comes after Christmas break at Lambuth (Tenn.) University. The game will tip off at 4 pm on January 3, 2009.
