HENDERSON, Tenn. - 12/12/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs, ranked No. 3 in the nation, scored 55 first half points on their way to an 86-65 win over Campbellsville (Ky.) University in the Freed-Hardeman Classic. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ moved to 9-3 on the season. Campbellsville (5-4) is receiving votes in the latest NAIA rankings.
Over Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s first 12 games of the season, nine of the games have been played against teams that are currently ranked or receiving votes in the most recent NAIA rankings. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 6-3 in those games, including a 3-2 record versus top-25 opponents.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 82-percent from the field, including 5-of-8 from behind the arc, in the first half in route to a 55-34 lead at the half. That 21-point lead for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was the biggest of the game. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ opened play with a 13-0 run, and led 17-3 after six minutes of play. Campbellsville pulled to within nine points in the first half, but the hot shooting from Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was just too much. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ closed the half with an 11-3 run to take their 55-34 lead.
In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored first to push the lead to 23 points, their biggest lead of the game. Campbellsville took advantage of cooler shooting by the Bulldogs in the second half and pulled to within 14 points (65-51) with 12:31 left. However, the deficit was just too much as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ regained control and coasted for the 21-point victory, 86-65.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by Greg Truvillion with a career-high 35 points, including 14-of-17 shooting from the field. Brian Lake added 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Matt Neaville added 15 points. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ shot 63-percent from the field, 36-percent (5-14) from behind the arc, and 54-percent (7-13) from the free throw line. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out-rebounded Campbellsville 42-25.
Campbellsville was led by Aaron Wyatt with 16 points and Zach Allender with 13 points. Campbellsville shot 34-percent from the field, 34-percent (10-29) from behind the arc, and 78-percent (7-9) from the free throw line.
