No. 3 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ falls at No. 9 Georgetown 78-62

JACKSON, Tenn. - 12/9/2008 - The No. 3 ranked Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs fell on the road at No. 9 Georgetown (Ky.) College 78-62. The Bulldogs are now 8-3 on the season, while the Tigers of Georgetown move to 10-1.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored first in the contest, taking a quick five-point lead, 8-3, just under three minutes into the game. They continued to control the half, going up by as many as nine points on one occasion, 22-13, with 11 minutes to go in the half. Georgetown, however, would not back down as they continued to chip away at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s lead, pulling within one point numerous times. Georgetown then took a 35-33 lead with under a minute left in the half. The Tigers scored once more before the buzzer, to take a 37-33 lead into the break.

To open up the second half, Georgetown continued to build their lead, going up by six points, 39-33. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ continued to play tough, pulling within three points, 41-38, on one occasion. Georgetown stretched their lead, however, going up by as many as 17 points, 65-48, with just over six minutes left in the game. The Tigers won the game by a final score of 78-62.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led in scoring on the night by Keith Tolliver, who recorded 20 points, including 4-of-5 from behind the arc. Matt Neaville added 16 points for the Bulldogs.

Georgetown was led by Demetrius Guions with 20 points. Vic Moses added 10 points for the Tigers.

Next up for the Bulldogs will be a trip to Henderson, Tenn., for the Freed-Hardeman Classic Dec. 12-13. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will face Campbellsville (Ky.) University on Friday at 5 pm, and then the Bulldogs play Southern University-New Orleans Saturday at 12 pm.
