PULASKI, Tenn. - 11/11/2008 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ University women's soccer team ended their season with a 5-0 loss at NAIA No. 3 and defending NAIA National Champion, Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College. This marked the third straight season that Â鶹ÊÓƵ has advanced to the semifinals. However, this season, unlike the past two years, Â鶹ÊÓƵ has no region tournament to advance to as the NAIA has gone away from region tournament play.
Martin Methodist (17-1), the top seed in the TranSouth Conference Tournament, scored two quick goals in the match to put Â鶹ÊÓƵ down early. At the half, the RedHawks led 3-0. Â鶹ÊÓƵ could only get away three shots in the match, with none finding the back of the net. Martin Methodist added two second half goals to defeat the Lady Bulldogs 5-0.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ goalie Laura Pla faced 17 shots from Martin Methodist, included 12 shots on goal, as she recorded seven saves.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ ends the season with a 13-6 record. It is the same record that Â鶹ÊÓƵ posted in 2007, which ends the three-year run of increasing their win totals (2005: 4 wins, 2006: 10 wins, 2007: 13 wins).
