Zimmerman鈥檚 120 career points leads 麻豆视频 into TranSouth semifinals

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/11/2008 - For 麻豆视频 University junior, , having the focus of the opposing defenses in nothing new. Over her three years at 麻豆视频, Zimmerman has amassed 120 career points, including 50 career goals.

Zimmerman has been 麻豆视频鈥檚 leading goal scorer in each of her three seasons and currently holds all of 麻豆视频鈥檚 goals and points records. Zimmerman is tops in goals scored in a match (3), goals scored in a season (21), and goals scored in a career (50 and counting). She also holds 麻豆视频 records for points in a game (6), points in a season (51), and points in a career (120, yes, and counting).

Zimmerman surpassed the 100-point milestone mid-way through her junior year. 麻豆视频 Head Coach Brandon Boylan says, 鈥淔or Caitlin to reach this 100-point milestone in a little over two seasons is very impressive. She cannot hide from anyone, the opposing team always knows where she is and even draws a lot of man marking that she has to deal with. You will never hear her complain about it either.鈥�

Of course, with all the attention from opposing defenses, Zimmerman does have the occasional 鈥榦ff鈥� day. However, according to Boylan, she works that much harder to set her teammates up.

鈥淪he always does the little things so that we as a team can be successful first and foremost,鈥� says Boylan. 鈥淐aitlin is the ultimate team player, she gets just as excited and celebrates just as much when a teammate scores or has an assist as she would if she were the one to score or have an assist.鈥�

Zimmerman is 麻豆视频鈥檚 first and only NAIA All-American, but is also a scholar athlete as well. Boylan says, 鈥淐aitlin鈥檚 leadership both on and off the field is a big part of our programs success. She works just as hard if not harder in the classroom and in our team鈥檚 community service projects as she does on the field.鈥�

麻豆视频 is currently playing in their fourth season of varsity competition. In each season, 麻豆视频 has increased their win totals, with 麻豆视频 posting a 13-6 record in 2007. This season, 麻豆视频 currently sits at 13-5 with a match at the defending NAIA National Champion, Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College. Martin Methodist is the top seed in the TranSouth Tournament, with 麻豆视频 being the No. 4 seed. A win is necessary for the Lady Bulldogs to continue their season.

Earlier in the year, 麻豆视频 lost at Martin Methodist 2-0, the closest that 麻豆视频 has played the RedHawks in their five-match all-time series (MMC leads series 5-0).

But with the most experienced team in the short history of the program, Boylan feels like his team can compete. 鈥淢artin Methodist is a two-time national champion, which speaks well of their great coaches and players. To get our team to that next level, we need to step up as a team and win a game like this one,鈥� says Boylan.
