麻豆视频 Soccer Player Receives NCCAA Award

Jackson, Tenn. - 9/24/2002 - Joe Phiri, a senior for the 麻豆视频 University Bulldogs, was named the Student Athlete of the Week by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). This marks the second consecutive week that a 麻豆视频 Bulldog has received this award, with Adrian Yeung getting this honor the previous week. Phiri helped lead the 麻豆视频 soccer squad to the co-championship of the rain shortened Casey Jones Village Classic last week. 麻豆视频 went 1-0 on the week and improved their overall record to 5-3-1.

Phiri, a 5-foot-7 forward from Lusaka, Zambia, leads the Bulldogs with seven goals and 17 points. He also has tallied three assists on the season. Phiri is 麻豆视频鈥檚 top scorer in school history with over 203 points and 56 goals in just over three and a half years.

The 麻豆视频 University Bulldogs open continue their conference season on Wednesday after noon when they travel to Martin Methodist College. This begins a stretch of five straight conference games for the Bulldogs. 麻豆视频 is currently 1-0 in the TranSouth and look to improve on last season鈥檚 runner-up finish in the conference tournament.
