JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/6/2008 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ University men's soccer team posted a 2-0 win over former conference foe Crichton (Tenn.) College. The win moved Â鶹ÊÓƵ to 9-5-2 on the season and extended their winning streak to four matches as they close out the regular season.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ and Crichton (2-14-2) played a scoreless first half. Rain, which had started late in the first half, became heavier as it looked like both teams were struggling to score. Then, just five minutes later, Â鶹ÊÓƵ was fouled in the box to set up a penalty kick for senior Wagner Oliviera. His successful kick put the game out of reach.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ goalie, James Landham recorded three saves in his second shutout of the season. Â鶹ÊÓƵ out-shot Crichton 15-9 in the match. Crichton goalie, Bradley Greer, kept Â鶹ÊÓƵ scoreless over the first 83 minutes with seven saves.
