JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/3/2008 - The 麻豆视频 University Lady Bulldogs, playing in front of a large crowd at 麻豆视频's Fred DeLady Gymnasium, fell in four sets to No. 29 Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University. 麻豆视频 finishes the regular season 23-7 overall and second place at 10-4 in the TranSouth. Freed-Hardeman closed their regular season at 31-3 and first place (14-0) in the conference.
麻豆视频 volleyball holds the previous two perfect TranSouth Conference seasons (2004: 10-0 and 1999: 11-0).
麻豆视频 started the match with a lot of energy as they looked to hand the Lady Lions their first conference loss. 麻豆视频 jumped to a 21-12 lead in game one. However, Freed-Hardeman rallied back to make the score 22-21. But it was 麻豆视频 who took the first game.
In game two, 麻豆视频 led 20-16 late and was serving for match point at 25-24, but failed to get the need point. 麻豆视频 again served for match pont at 27-26, but the top team in the TranSouth recorded three straight points to take the set.
Game three saw FHU score the first two points, before 麻豆视频 rattled off seven straight to take a 7-2 lead. 麻豆视频 led 20-19, but again, could not hold the lead as the Lady Lions posted six straight points to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
The momentum was clearly on the side of FHU at this point as the Lady Lions jumped out to a 14-6 lead and then led 24-12, before taking game four 25-13.
麻豆视频 was led by Emilie Ogas with nine kills. Katie Adams added eight kills, while Heather Liebermand tallied seven kills. Adams recorded 28 assists and also led with four aces. Anna Sims led 麻豆视频 with seven blocks, while Ogas added five blocks.
Freed-Hardeman was led by Fernanda Alves with 18 kills, followed by Sydney Rice with 11 and Crissandra Perez with 10 kills. Martha Ray tallied 44 assists, while Alves led with six blocks.
麻豆视频 will enter the conference tournament next week as the No. 2 seed. The tournament will be held at 麻豆视频's Fred-DeLay Gymnasium on Monday and Tuesday, November 10-11. 麻豆视频 will play the No. 7 seed Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College at 11:30 am on Monday.
