Lady Bulldog soccer wins on senior night, Zimmerman gets hat-trick

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/1/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldog soccer team posted a 4-0 win over Reinhardt (Ga.) College on senior night. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ closed out the regular season with two straight wins and now look forward to the TranSouth Conference Tournament.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ scored two goals in the first half, both coming from team leader Caitlin Zimmerman. Her first goal came in the 21st minute as her shot deflected off a defender into the net. In the 36th minute, a perfectly placed ball from Brooke Walker allowed Zimmerman to score on a header.

In the second half, Zimmerman struck again on a breakaway in the 57th minute. Eboni Murphy closed out the scoring for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in the 65th minute, assisted by senior Cheslie Tharpe.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Laura Pla recorded one save in the match, earning a second straight shutout and her ninth shutout of the season.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming TranSouth Conference Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will host a first round game on Saturday, November 8 at 5:00 pm versus the No. 5 seed Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University.
