JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/7/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University volleyball team extended their season long winning streak to eight matches with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 29-27, 25-18) victory over Cumberland (Tenn.) University. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, now 16-4 overall, keeps their hold on second place in the TranSouth with an 8-2 league record. Cumberland drops to 14-11 on the season and 4-5 in the conference.
This marks the longest winning streak for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ since the Lady Bulldogs posted 11 straight victories in 2006.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ struggled in the first game, losing 25-13. However, the Lady Bulldogs of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ took over with three straight wins to seal the match.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ entered the match having defeated Cumberland twice already this season, 3-1 at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in a conference match and then 3-0 in a non-conference match at the Cumberland Tournament.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a non-conference match at home versus crosstown rival Lambuth University on Thursday, October 9 at 7:00 pm.
