JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/29/2008 - Wagner Oliveira and James Landham of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ (Tenn.) University have been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference’s men’s soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week respectively for the week ending September 28, 2008.
, a senior forward from Ipatinga, Brazil, led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week by scoring three of the team’s six goals in wins over Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University and No. 21 Mid-Continent (Ky.) University. Against Freed-Hardeman, Oliveira scored the game-winning goal in the 46th minute as Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ took a 2-1 victory. Later that week against MCU, he scored twice as the Bulldogs upset the Cougars, 4-2.
, a freshman goalkeeper from Hendersonville, Tenn., contributed to Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s 2-0 week with eight saves, including six in a win over No. 21 Mid-Continent. He held the Cougars scoreless in the first half as the Bulldogs built a 3-0 lead at intermission.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is 5-3-1 on the season and 2-0 in the TranSouth Conference.
