JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/16/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men's soccer team rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime with Delta State (Miss.) University. The match ended after two overtimes, knotted at 2-2. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ goes to 3-3-1 on the season, while Delta State moves to 5-1-1 overall.
Delta State scored early on a goal from David Hortsmann just four minutes into play. Hortsman was not finished as he added his second goal of the match just 10 minutes later.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was finally able to get on the board with a goal from Paul Turner at the 36 minute mark of the first half. The score remained 2-1 in favor of the Statesmen at the half.
In the second half, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ tied the match on a goal from Wagner Oliveira just three minutes into play. That proved to be the final score as both team were held in check for the final 42 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a home match on Tuesday, September 23 versus Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University at 7:00 pm.
