JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/30/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University soccer teams pulled off a sweep versus Southeastern (Fla.) University. The Lady Bulldogs opened with a 3-0 victory, followed by a 3-2 win for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ men.
After an hour-plus rain delay, the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Lady Bulldogs used a strong second half to take the win. The match was scoreless at the half, when Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Jamie Haynes broke through win a goal assisted by Christina Reardon. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's returning All-American, Caitlin Zimmerman, added two goals for the Lady Bulldogs. Haynes and Eboni Murphy each added assists in the contest. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is now 1-0 on the season.
In the men's game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ fell behind early in the match, 1-0. However, the Bulldogs rattled off three consecutive goals, with two coming in the second half, to jump out 3-1. A late goal from Southeastern cut the final score to 3-2. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Josh Hanna recorded two goals, while Ricky Norman added one goal in the win. The Bulldogs are now 1-1 on the year.
Up next for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ soccer teams will be another test in the state of Florida. The women will play Webber International University at 11:00 am, with the men to follow at 3:00 pm.
