麻豆视频 Bulldog Soccer Holds Inaugural Camp

Jackson, Tenn. - 6/7/2002 - The 麻豆视频 University Bulldogs Soccer Program held their first ever summer soccer camp on May 27th-31st. The camp featured a very experienced coaching staff, which included Junior Joe Phiri, a 3-time TranSouth All-Conference Selection, Junior Captain Jeff Lean, a 4-time All-American, and 麻豆视频 University Assistant Coach Dave Delaughter, a former NCCAA All-Tournament Selection. 麻豆视频鈥檚 head coach, Dr. Darin White, made occasional appearances teach in part of the camps.

鈥淭his camp was a huge success for the first year,鈥 said Jeff Lean. 鈥淲e had a good response, having 40 students who all worked very hard and improved a lot.鈥 All 40 participants took part in a variety of events including the Camp World Cup, Bulldog Sharp Shooter Contest, and a 麻豆视频 University Red/White Scrimmage Match.

On Friday in the Youth Red/White Scrimmage, Corey White鈥檚 last second goal propelled the Red Team to a 5-4 victory in a back-and-forth match.

The Senior Red/White Scrimmage kicked off later that day at 7 p.m. The players were selected in alternating fashion via a mock draft. After all the players were announced and the national anthem was sung, the game kicked off. The White team, coached by David Delaughter scored early off a blast from Joseph Shae. However, two goals by Kenny Whitehead put the Red team, coached by Jeff Lean, on top. Less than ten seconds before half, Matt Lynn knotted the game up at two.

After half time, the Red team scored quick on two goals by Michael Sichta. The White team would bounce back though. Matt Lynn tallied two more to tie the game up, and with less than three minutes to play Chandler Sisson slid home the winning goal to secure the win for the White team.

At the end of the week, awards were given to individuals for their performance during the camp. In the Senior division, Matt Lynn was named the Red/White MVP, Kenny Whitehead received the Bulldog Award, and Chandler Sission was named Hardest Worker. Being named to the World Cup All-Star Team was, Ashley Morris-Anthony, Andy Hoffman, Michael Sichta, Joseph Shae, Taylor Mount, and Patrick Broderick. The Youth division awards given were Joshua Witham receiving the Bulldog award and Paige Tang selected as the Hardest Worker.

Thanks goes out to Admiral Soccer Equipment for supplying the coaches with their coaching outfits and a very special thanks to Johnseys who supplied a tremendous amount of great equipment for all the campers.
