JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/25/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University softball improved their current winning streak to four games with a double-header sweep over Lambuth (Tenn.) University 4-1 and 8-0. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is now 29-16 on the year and 20-10 in the TranSouth. Lambuth dropped to 11-28 on the season and 8-22 in league play.
In the first game, Amy Chatham improved to 15-7 on the year with a complete game performance, allowing just one run on five hits. Last season's TranSouth Conference and NAIA Region Player of the Year provided the offense, going 3-for-3 with two runs. Lindsey Landereneau posted a 2-for-3 game with two RBI.
The second game saw the Lady Bulldogs continue their hot hitting, with a run in the first and five more in the bottom of the third. Senior Candace Cross had the game's big blow with a bases clearing triple. Walters again went 3-for-3 with two runs while adding two RBI. Landreneau added two RBI with one hit. Chester County native Bethany Burnett improved to 5-6 on the year with a complete game one hitter over her five innings of work.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a double-header at home versus Cumberland (Tenn.) University on Saturday, April 26 at 2:00 pm. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ then closes the regular season on Monday at Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be hosting the TranSouth Conference Tournament. It begins April 30 at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Fesmire Field.
