Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Softball Earns Split at No. 4 Trevecca Nazarene

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 4/8/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University softball team posted a double-header split on the road at NAIA No. 4 Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University. Trevecca Nazarene won the first game 2-1, while Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ took the second game 4-2. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 20-9 on the season and 11-5 in the TranSouth. Trevecca Nazarene is now 26-4 overall and 15-1 in the TranSouth.

The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ win over Trevecca Nazarene gave the Trojans their first loss in conference play on the season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has now won 10 of their last 12 games on the season.

In the first game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ out hit the Trojans five hits to four, but only managed the one run. Ashley Walters led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with a 2-for-3 day. Amy Chatham (12-3) took the hard luck loss, tossing a complete game while allowing just four hits and two runs.

Game two saw Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ put three runs on the board in the top of the second inning to take the lead. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ again out hit Trevecca Nazarene four hits to three. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Ashley Blankenship went 2-for-3 in the game to lead the Lady Bulldogs, while Brooke Laws led with two RBI. Ashley Walters (2-0) earned the win, tossing 5.2 innings, allowing just two hits and two runs. Chatham tossed 1.1 innings of relief to earn her second save of the year.

Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be a conference double-header versus Bethel (Tenn.) College on Thursday, April 10 in McKenzie at 1:00 pm.
