JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/12/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Lady Bulldogs, the NAIA's No. 1 ranked team, earned the top seed in next week's . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is looking for their third national title in four years and fourth in school history.
With this appearance in the national tournament, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will tie the national record for tournament appearances at 19. Wayland Baptist University has also made 19 national tournaments, but is not among this year's field. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has an overall national tournament record of 46-15. Among this year's 32-team field, only Southern Nazarene University (Okla.) at 58-9 has more national tournament wins.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ is one of only four teams in this year's tournament who have won a national title. From the Sooner Conference, Southern Nazarene has won seven titles and Oklahoma City University has won four titles. From the TranSouth Conference, the winners of the last three titles, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has won three and Lambuth has won one title. In fact, the last 14 NAIA Women's Basketball National Titles have been won by Oklahoma City, Southern Nazarene, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, and Lambuth.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished the season with a perfect 32-0 record. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ captured the TranSouth Regular Season and Tournament Titles for the second straight season and the ninth time in the 12-year history of the league.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has won 53 of their past 55 games, dating back to January 11, 2007. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has advanced to three straight final fours.
