JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/1/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University Bulldogs locked up fifth place in the TranSouth Conference with a 104-81 win at Mid-Continent University (Ky.). The win is Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s season best fifth straight win. The Bulldogs improved to 18-12 on the season and 12-8 in league play. Mid-Continent dropped to 10-22 overall and 5-15 in league play.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has earned a bye in Tuesday’s first round of the conference tournament. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will open the conference tournament on the road at the four-seed Cumberland University Bulldogs on Thursday night, March 6 at 7:00 pm. The semifinals will be Saturday, March 8, with the championship game on Tuesday, March 10. The higher seed in each game will be the host.
In the 12-year history of the League, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has won five of the regular season titles and five tournament titles, more that any other team in the league. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ has appeared in seven of the 11 TranSouth Tournament Championship games to this point in the league’s history.
In this game, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by junior guard Brian Lake with a career-high 38 points. He added 15 rebounds to set his TranSouth leading 13 double-double of the season. Matt Neaville added 16 points, Tacuma Alexander posted 14 points, and Keith Tolliver scored 13 points.
