No. 1 麻豆视频 Ladies Move to 20-0, Men Win Third Straight

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/31/2008 - The 麻豆视频 men's and women's basketball teams completed the sweep on Thursday night with wins over Mid-Continent University (Ky.). The No. 1 ranked 麻豆视频 Lady Bulldogs improved to 20-0 on the season with an 80-37 win. The 麻豆视频 men pulled away for their third straight win and fifth win in the past six game with a 90-68 win.

The 麻豆视频 Ladies have now won 41 of their past 43 games dating back to January 11, 2007 and are just one win shy of equaling a program record 21 straight wins. In 1987-88, 麻豆视频 opened the season 21-0. Also in 1984-85, 麻豆视频 posted a 21-game winning streak during the season.

In the women's game, 麻豆视频 (20-0, 9-0) jumped out to a 50-17 halftime lead. Merideth Jacobs was 4-of-5 from behind the arc in the first half. Kaitlin Dudley also poured in 15 first half points for 麻豆视频. 麻豆视频 shot 65-percent from the field in the first half, including 60-percent (9-15) from behind the arc. 麻豆视频 coasted to the 80-37 win led by Dudley and Jacobs finishing with 17 points each. Ten of the eleven Lady Bulldogs scored in the game. 麻豆视频 finished the game shooting 53-percent from the field, 46-percent (12-26) from behind the arc, and 57-percent (8-14) from the free throw line.

Mid-Continent was led by Sarah Cripps with 20 points. The Cougars shot 41-percent from the field, and just 13-percent (2-16) from behind the arc. Mid-Continent made 1-of-2 free throws for 50-percent.

In the men's game, 麻豆视频's Tacuma Alexander opened the game with a three pointer. Alexander added two more three pointers over the next two minutes to help 麻豆视频 jump out to a quick lead. A lead 麻豆视频, now 12-8 overall and 6-4 in the TranSouth, never relinquished. With 9:57 left in the first half, 麻豆视频 was up by 19 points, 35-16. Mid-Continent posted a 14-4 run to cut the 麻豆视频 lead down to just nine points at 39-30 with 5:12 left in the half. The Bulldogs responded with more great first half shooting to push the lead up to 21 points, 53-32, before settling for a 53-34 halftime lead. 麻豆视频 posted 61-percent shooting in the first half, including 44-percent from behind the arc.

In the second half, 麻豆视频 stretched the lead up to their largest of the game at 27 points, 70-43 with 12:16 left to play. Mid-Continent got as close as 17 points late in the game, but 麻豆视频 was just too much on this night. The Bulldogs cruised to a 90-68 home win.

麻豆视频 was led by Matt Neaville with 31 points, including 21 in the first half. He sank 5-of-13 three points, four coming in the first half. Brian Lake added 12 points and Ryan Merriman posted 10 points. Nine of the 10 players for 麻豆视频 scored in the game. 麻豆视频 shot 50-percent from the field, 30-percent (9-30) from behind the arc, and 68-percent (15-22) from the free throw line.

Mid-Continent was led by Mario Stafford with 19 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Al Magwood added 15 points and Tiron Peoples scored 11 points. The Cougars shot 31-percent from the field, 15-percent (5-33) from behind the arc, and 68-percent (15-22) from the free throw line.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be home games versus area and conference rival Bethel College (Tenn.). The women will play at 2:00 pm, followed by the men at 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 2.
