No. 1 麻豆视频 Ladies Stay Perfect with Win Over Martin Methodist

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/19/2008 - The No. 1 ranked 麻豆视频 University Lady Bulldogs improved to 17-0 on the season with a 104-73 win over Martin Methodist College (Tenn.). 麻豆视频 is now 6-0 in the TranSouth. Martin Methodist dropped to 10-8 overall and 2-4 in league play.

麻豆视频 posted their third straight game with over 60-percent shooting from the field. Over their last three games, 麻豆视频 has posted 53, 60, and 55 points respectively in the first half of each game. 麻豆视频 led by as many as 22 points (35-13) in the first half and had a 24 point lead with just seconds left. However, a three pointer from just inside the half court line by Martin Methodist's Larraine Sutton closed 麻豆视频's halftime lead to 55-34.

The second half opened with 麻豆视频 posting a 13-4 run. The Lady Bulldogs coasted over the last 15 minutes of play, extending their 21-point halftime lead to a 31-point win, 104-73. All 11 players for 麻豆视频 scored in the game with six players posting double figures. 麻豆视频 starters managed only about five minutes each in the second half.

麻豆视频 was led by sophomore Kaitlin Dudley with 19 points, 17 of which came in the first half. Freshman reserve Ella Joines posted a career high with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Jessica Graves scored 14 points, Josephine Owino and Merideth Jacobs added 13 points each, and Zeinab Chan posted 10 points. 麻豆视频 had four players to made at least three shots from behind the arc in the game. 麻豆视频's 16 made three pointers was just three short of the team's record 19 three pointers made in 2005.

麻豆视频 shot 58-percent from the field, including 50-percent (16-32) from behind the arc. The Lady Bulldogs made 20-of-28 free throws for 71-percent.

Martin Methodist was led by Lorraine Sutton and Whitney Robinson with 13 points each. Diane Frost and Crystal Pointexter each added 11 points. The RedHawks shot 39-percent from the field, 27-percent (6-22) from three point range, and 53-percent (9-17) from the free throw line.

Up next for 麻豆视频 will be a road conference game at area rival Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee on Thursday, January 24. The women's game will start at 6:00 pm with the men's game to follow at 8:00 pm.
