Â鶹ÊÓƵ Lady Bulldogs Still No. 1, Men Up to No. 20

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/9/2008 - The Â鶹ÊÓƵ University men's and women's basketball teams find themselves ranked in the latest NAIA National poll, released on Wednesday afternoon. The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Lady Bulldogs, winner's of 13 straight games to start the season, are ranked No. 1. The Bulldogs moved up two spots to No. 20 after a narrow defeat at No. 1 Mountain State University and a 22-point win at Bethel College.

The Lady Bulldogs, now 13-0 on the year, have held the top spot in each poll this season. The last time Â鶹ÊÓƵ started the season with at least 13 straight wins was 2004-05 when Â鶹ÊÓƵ was 17-0 before suffering their first defeat. Â鶹ÊÓƵ went on to win the first to two straight NAIA National Titles that season.

The Lady Bulldogs are now 13-0 on the season and 2-0 in TranSouth play. Dating back to January 11, 2007, Â鶹ÊÓƵ has won 34 of the past 36 games.

The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Bulldogs had played 11 games when the votes were cast for this poll. Of those 11 opponents, seven ranked in the latest polls. The Lyon loss on Monday will factor in next week's ranking. However, Â鶹ÊÓƵ play at No. 8 Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) on Thursday night and then are at home versus No. 12 Lambuth University (Tenn.) on Saturday in hopes of making up for that early home conference loss.

The Bulldogs are currently 7-5 on the season and 1-1 in TranSouth Conference play.
