Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Softball Signs Bolton Standout

JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/3/2008 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University softball team has added another signee for next season. of Bolton High School will enter Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in the fall as a freshman and will be majoring in Pharmacy.

McMillin, a 5-foot-6 pitcher and first baseman, prepped at Bolton High School where she plays softball. In 2005, she helped lead Bolton to the state tournament final four, after winning titles at the district, sectional, and regional levels. Bolton also captured the district title and posted a quarterfinal finish in the state tournament in 2007. McMillin has been named All-District three times, Best of Preps three times, All-State twice, District MVP twice, Bolton MVP as a junior, Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman, NFSA Homerun Derby Champ and Best All-Around as a sophomore. Last season as a junior, McMillin posted 271 strikeouts on the mound, while also recorded a .465 batting average and a 1.165 slugging percentage with eight homeruns.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ head coach Heather Hall says to, "Expect Sydney to make an instant impact on the team as a freshman. She possesses a strong bat and will also help as a left-handed pitcher." Hall goes on to say that, "Sydney is a great competitor and will help our team in many ways."

McMillin's softball success started early with the Atoka Ponytails winning back-to-back state titles and World Series titles in 2001 and 2002. In 2003, her South Tipton Storm team posted a runner-up finish in the ASA World Series.

Off the field, McMillin was a member of the Science Club where she served as President.
