Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Owino Named TranSouth Player of the Week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/19/2007 - of Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University has been selected as the TranSouth Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Players of the Week for the week ending November 18, 2007.

This is the second straight week that Owino has been named to this honor. Currently, Owino ranks No. 3 in the NAIA with 24.0 points per game and third with a 0.681 field goal percentage.

Owino, a 6-foot-4 junior center from Mombassa, Kenya, helped lead NAIA No. 1 Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University to a perfect 2-0 record on the week with a pair of double-doubles against two ranked opponents. In Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 86-80 win over No. 3 Lee University, Owino produced a career-high 34 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks, and two steals while hitting 13-of-18 from the field and 8-of-10 from the foul line. In Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's 110-99 win over No. 19 The Master’s College, she delivered 20 points, 14 rebounds, an assist, two rebounds, and a steal while hitting 8-for-10 from the field and 4-of-5 from the foul line. For the week she hit 21-of-28 (75%) from the field and 12-of-15 (80%) from the foul line while averaging 27 points, 13 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, ranked No. 1 in the NAIA, is now 5-0 on the season. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will play next on Friday and Saturday, November 23-24 in the . Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ plays Allen University on Friday at 6:00 pm and Morris College on Saturday at 6:00 pm.
