JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/2/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University volleyball team picked up a TranSouth Conference road win at Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) on Thursday night, 3-1 (30-24, 26-30, 30-27, 30-25). Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ improved to 19-8 on the season and 10-6 in the TranSouth. Freed-Hardeman dropped to 26-4 overall and 16-2 in league play.
After the first two games, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ and Freed-Hardeman were even at 1-1. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was able to win the next two to take the match. Freed-Hardeman had defeated Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ earlier in the season 3-2, after Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ had led 2-1 in the match.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ was led by CJ Neathamer with 17 kills followed by Amanda Hutchison Coyle with 13 kills. Tiven Catrett and Brisa Berlin added 10 kills each. Jennifer Martins posted 42 assists and Cassi Hobbs tallied 44 digs. Emilie Ogas and Coyle led Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ with two blocks each.
Up next for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ will be non-conference road match at Brescia University (Ky.) on Saturday. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ then plays conference matches at home versus Mid-Continent University (Ky.) on Monday and then at Crichton College (Tenn.) on Tuesday to close out the regular season.
The TranSouth Conference Tournament will be held at Lyon College in Batesville, Ark. on November 8-10.
