JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/25/2007 - The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ University men’s cross country team earned the NAIA ranked of No. 20 in the latest NAIA National Rankings. This marks the first time that Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s men have been in the Top-25. The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ women’s team received votes in NAIA Cross Country rankings released this week.
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s men are coming off a runner-up finish in the Southeastern Cross Country Classic held in Nashville last weekend. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ finished just three minutes behind the No. 1 ranked team in the NAIA, Malone College (Ohio).
Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s Henry Rop continued his winning ways as he took first place in the event. For Rop, this marks the third win in Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s four races this season. Rop placed first in the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic, first in the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Cross Country Classic, fourth in the Memphis Twilight Classic, and first in the Southeastern Classic.
The Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ ladies were also rewarded for their third place finish in the nationally competitive Southeastern Classic. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ received votes this week after finishing in third place in the meet, behind only NAIA ranked teams, No. 4 Cedarville University (Ohio) and No. 9 Malone.
Up next for the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ cross country teams will be the combined TranSouth Conference and NAIA Region XI Meet on November 3 in Nashville, Tennessee. Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s women won first place in the region meet last season, while the men posted a runner-up finish in the region. At the conference level, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµâ€™s women are seeking their fifth straight conference title, while the men look for their fourth straight conference championship.
